
Stephen Mercer, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Mercer is the Director of our on-site Dermatopathology Laboratory. He is board-certified in Dermatopathology and Anatomic Pathology and specializes in the microscopic diagnosis of skin cancers, cutaneous lymphomas, and life-threatening inflammatory diseases of the skin.
Dr. Mercer earned his medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Mercer is a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology and the College of American Pathologists and is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New Jersey and New York.
Dr. Mercer also has a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology and is a faculty member at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, where he teaches residents and medical students in the Departments of Dermatology and Pathology. He has contributed over 50 articles and book chapters to the medical literature in the fields of molecular carcinogenesis and novel cutaneous diseases. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Mercer earned both a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and an M.S. in Comparative Physiology at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he published multiple works in the fields of human performance evaluation and enhancement and molecular signal transduction.
