Eczema is a red, often itchy or irritated, rash that takes many forms. Atopic Dermatitis is a common form of eczema that affects infants, children, and adults. People often have it on their neck, wrists, ankles, and parts that bend, such as the inner part of the elbows and knees. Contact dermatitis is another very common type of eczema; it is often caused by an allergic or irritant reaction such as those seen with poison ivy. It can also be caused by an allergy to perfumes, detergents, soaps, chlorine and certain medications.
There are many more types of dermatitis, all of which have their own specific symptoms. Whichever type of dermatitis you are experiencing, Kessel Dermatology can help.
