Nail Fungus
Onychomycosis, more commonly known as nail fungus, is a pesky issue suffered by many adults. While anyone can get nail fungus, it is especially common for those who sweat heavily or live in moist climates.
When one or more of your fingernails or toenails develops a fungal infection, it can cause some unpleasant symptoms. Typically, the area under the infected nail(s) will take on a white or yellow hue. The affected nail(s) may become powdery, detached or lackluster. In severe cases, throbbing, itching and discomfort will also occur. It may also affect more of your nails as time passes, and lead to nail disfigurement if untreated.
Nail fungus can be tricky to treat, so it’s best to seek professional help in doing so. Over-the-counter products marketed to treat fungal infections are commonly unsuccessful with infections of the nails. At Kessel Dermatology, we are experts at eradicating nail fungus in a variety of ways, including:
- Oral anti-fungal medications
- Topical anti-fungal creams
- Nail lacquers
- Laser therapy
- And more
