Skin cancer poses a risk to people of all ages and races. Cancers of the skin are the most common cancers on earth, and come in many types. Thankfully, these can often be found early by routine examinations of the skin. When you come to Kessel Dermatology, we will conduct a thorough skin examination to determine if you have any spots on your skin that are potentially dangerous. If we discover anything suspicious, we may use clinical assessments, serial photography, dermoscopy (a skin-specific microscope), or skin biopsy to evaluate it.
In the event that we locate a cancerous spot, we can remove it right in our office. This will save you both time and money, as you won’t be referred to another office or pay surgical facility charges. Typically, our surgical procedures take between 15 and 60 minutes.
Our therapeutic approach will vary according to the type of skin cancer that you have as well as the location and size of the spot. Your age and health will also be taken into consideration when deciding which treatment is appropriate for you. A few options include:
- Topical immunomodulators
- Mohs surgery
- Curettage and electrodessication
