One of the biggest fears people have when it comes to facial injections is how much the treatments will hurt. If you sit in the chair and only focus on the idea that needles will be piercing your face, sure, it’ll hurt more — but only because you’re psyching yourself out. In reality, cosmetic injections hurt way less than you’d probably think.

Do Cosmetic Injections Hurt?

First off, a few factors go into how much pain you may experience when getting injectable treatments. Such factors can include:

  • Where You Get Your Injections: Areas, such as around your mouth and your lips, often hurt more than other areas of your face.
  • How Much Fat is in That Area: The more fat you have in certain areas of your face, the less pain you’ll feel there since the injection won’t be as close to your nerves or bone.

What Can Be Done to Reduce the Pain?

While injections really only make you feel pinches, there are ways to lessen even that small amount of pain. Your licensed healthcare provider can use a numbing agent, such as a topical or local anesthetic, in certain areas, such as your eyes or cheeks, first to prevent you from feeling pain. For more painful areas, such as your lips, he or she can offer you a more powerful dental block to reduce the pain.

At Kessel Dermatology, we take the greatest care in making sure your cosmetic injectables treatment is administered as safely and with as little pain as possible. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call us at 609-890-2600.
