Mohs microscopic surgery is now the most advanced, precise, and effective treatment for a variety of skin cancers. If you are looking for information on Mohs Surgery, how it is done, and who performs this procedure, you’ve come to the right place.

Mohs Surgery At A Glance

Mohs micrographic surgery is the most effective technique for treating the two most common types of skin cancer, basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas (Source: Skin Cancer Foundation).“Mohs” refers to Dr. Frederic Mohs who developed this technique in the 1930s. This treatment has many benefits including, only a single visit, cost-effectiveness, and the highest possible cure rate (Source: American College of Mohs Surgery).

How Mohs Surgery Is Done

Mohs surgery has multiple stages starting with removing one tissue layer at a time under local anesthesia. Each layer of tissue is examined in our on-site lab, where the microscopic roots are carefully identified and mapped. After examining, we will repeat this step until no cancer remains, sparing the good tissue and ensuring minimal scarring.
